BigTweet is one of my favorite Twitter management tools. It is so simple it’s ridiculous, but this simple little tool can save you hours of mental anguish trying to come up with things to tweet about. BigTweet is a browser toolbar button. After installing it on your browser, you can use it to create tweets from text on web pages that you highlight.
For example, let’s say your area of expertise is bow ties, so you need to tweet about things related to bow ties. If you are on a web page that just happens to have an interesting passage about bow ties, you can highlight a portion of it and click your BigTweet button to create a tweet from it.
By default, BigTweet also prepends the title of the web page to the highlighted passage. In most cases, this will result in a tweet that violates the 140 character maximum. BigTweet can be configured not to add the web page title, which minimizes the problem. You can also set BigTweet to divide tweets that exceed the character limits into two separate tweets posted consecutively.
There is an advantage to leaving the option to prepend the web page title to your tweet, and this is that you can create tweets by not highlighting any text at all. This will create a tweet that only contains the title of the web page and a link. Now that is easy tweeting.
To use BigTweet, visit the website and follow the instructions for installing the button on your toolbar. It will save you a ton of time in creating your tweets. And the price is right. It’s free!
If you want to get even more advanced with your Twitter management, you gotta try out my favorite tool, Tweet Later.
