Twitter has already been around for over 3 years. It was founded in March 2006 by mostly Evan Williams, Jack Dorsey, and Biz Stone. Williams, who co-found Odeo left google in October 2004. In 2006 Williams and Biz Stone co-founded Obvious Corp along with other former Odeo employees. Twitter was created as a separate company in April 2007 by Obvious Corp. Xanga, Blogger, Odeo, and Obvious were also created by Twitter co-founder Biz Stone. Jack Dorsey, better known as the creator of Twitter was chief executive officer of Twitter until October 2008 when Williams took over role of CEO and Dorsey became chairman of the board.
Twitter has been a url since 2001. But it wasn’t until February 2005 that the plain white page got its first Marketing Consultants logo. It was a simple little blue “Twitter” logo. There were no more updates made until October 2006. It was then when the Twitter interface was created.
Since its creation in 2006, Twitter has become very popular worldwide. Twitter is the fastest growing free micro-blogging software that allows you to keep in touch with people through quick, frequent answers to one another. Today Twitter has grown to more than 14 million users.
The term “tweet” refers to a 140 character message posted on Twitter. Use tweets to post updates to draw traffic to your site through links. Bloggers use Twitter to build relationships with people and to also promote their blog.
